Love + Light Wedding Festival was founded in 2018 by Festival Director Georgie James, a seasoned wedding photographer who wanted to support couples to create a day that says, ‘This is us’, whilst celebrating local businesses in the Rutherglen region.

After working with dozens of beautiful couples year upon year documenting their wedding day memories, the seed of an idea began – Georgie wanted to help these couples make their memories too, by offering inspiration and advice to help the wedding planning process be as fun as possible (because weddings are fun, right?!). She had also noticed that more and more couples are choosing to forgo traditional weddings in favourof personalised celebrations, so she sought to make the process easier by connecting these individuals with a selection of carefully curated wedding experts able to pull off epic bespoke ceremonies and receptions.

“When I started as a wedding photographer in the Rutherglen region five years ago, I assumed there would be plenty of resources to help couples find cool spaces and suppliers that would make planning their wedding day enjoyable” says Georgie.”As a supplier, I realised how difficult it was to find an industry event in this region that was inspiring and one that would also generate business for vendors.Plus, our region desperately needed a wedding industry event that showed off our incredible range of venues and suppliers. And aside from helping our wonderful locals, I wanted to curate an event that helped couples from the city to get married in our beautiful area.”

From this idea the Love + Light Wedding Festival was born and the inaugural event ran for the first time in 2018. The result? A regional showcase for the wedding industry focusing on creatives, suppliers, venues and inspiration in an immersive new format that brought venues to life as ‘wedding-ready’ – and celebrated local talent, too.

“It was my mission to create a well-run event with heart and soul,” says Georgie.

Last year’s inaugural festival was a huge success, with 63 vendors spread across 7 venues and more than 350 peoplecoming to explore the region. The feedback from visitors, vendors and venues has been overwhelmingly supportive. We’re proud to be the first festival to have brought such an innovative concept to Rutherglen and would love for you to join us in 2019.
