Your photographer should be as much a part of your big day as your significant other, says snapper Sue Davis.
Tell us about what you do and where you do it.
My studio is nestled amongst the rustic buildings of Corowa Whisky and Chocolate. I am a photographer with over 23 years of experience, and I photograph mainly weddings and also portraits.
What do you think makes a great wedding?
The best weddings are when a bride and groom let go of all the built-up stress and just enjoy their day.
What was the most memorable wedding you’ve worked on and why?
[While] most weddings are great for different reasons, the most memorable was a very sad but happy wedding. The bride had cancer and not long to live [when] her boyfriend decided to marry her and she looked beautiful and very happy. Two weeks later, I was photographing her funeral.
What’s most wonderful thing about getting married in the Rutherglen region?
It’s wonderful that we all work together: [from] venues, florists, hair, make-up, cakes, stylists and of course photographers, [we] make the planning for brides and grooms so simple. We are all very professional and do a damn good job. Shop local!
What words of wisdom do you have for couples planning their wedding?
Have fun planning your wedding, choose professionals and locals, make sure you get along with your photographer - it will show in your photos - and don't stress and just enjoy your day.
